We had a fun Halloween this year. We went to Oregon and spent the weekend with family. Because Halloween was on a Saturday, Lizzie and Dylan got to go trick or treating with their cousins and who knows when we will be able to do that again!!!
There are some pictures below of all the kids in their costumes and some of us carving our pumpkins. Dylan actually was able to participate this time, so that is always fun!!!
The pumpkin patch we go to is Fosters Produce in Arlington and we stumbled upon it the first year we were here. Granted it does have a little bit of a special place in my heart because of my maiden name, but it is a nice local farm that is fun to go to too. We have taken pictures of Lizzie next to that pumpkin for the past 3 years I guess, because we have 3 pictures of her next to it, and you can see how much she has changed. We stood Dylan up to it last year and this year he stood on his own. It's kind of fun to see the growth in the kids!!

The Fourth of July
We had a good 4th this year. JJ's little sister, Jacian, and her hubby, Scott, and their two boys came up to visit for a few days. Lizzie and Cole (3 years old) played well together and Dylan is waiting for Cruz (6 weeks old) to get old enough for them to get into trouble!! (Dylan manages to do that on his own, but will welcome a sidekick I am sure!!)
It was "hot" for us up here in Washington, but to the Southern Oregonians, it was a nice temperature. We got out the kiddie pool and some other water toys and played with those one day, did some shopping, watched some fireworks, did some touristy kind of things, ate lots of good food and even managed to catch a Mariners game!!
For the 4th, Jacian and I went to "Boom City" to get our fireworks and we were glad we went just the two of us. It is a big lot on the Tulalip reservation with a lot of booths selling fireworks. You get to barter a little with the folks and if you go on the 4th they are more apt to give you a deal, so we were told... We think we got a deal so I guess that is all that matters. We turned down the road to get to "Boom City" and there was a long line of cars, that's when we decided we were glad it was just the two of us. We ended up parking and walking a little ways just to get to the place. We were kind of laughing at the people who brought wagons etc to haul their stuff back to their cars and once we were done there, we understood why... We got a box of fountains that was a rather large box and if we had brought our wagon it would have been easier to haul it to our car!! Lesson learned!!
Later that afternoon we went over to a co-worker's house to have some good food and fun and a little pool time for the kids. Lizzie sure talks big about swimming, but once you get her in the pool she didn't want to let go of JJ. I put Dylan in a floatie thing and he had a death grip on that and didn't like it when JJ or I would go under the water and pop back up...kind of scared the poor boy!! Towards the end Lizzie was getting braver and would walk on her tip toes in the shallow end.
After swimming we headed back home - a whole 2 miles or so away - and at dusk started our fireworks. JJ put on a good show with the fountains Jacian and I got. We also got to enjoy the neighbors' fireworks too. One thing that is different here in Washington is that the ones that fly up in the air and explode are legal!! This was our first 4th actually being in the state - we typically go to my cousin's house in Portland. So, that was fun to see all the different ones flying up into the air and the booms seemed to go on and on and on... It was really cool!!

My Little Lollipop
Lizzie recently starred in her first recital. Well, I say "starred" but she was with a group of cute little sailor girls. But this was the wrap up of her ballet/tap class for the year. It was SO much fun watching her perform and made her mommy and daddy VERY proud!! They did a tap routine to "Good Ship Lollipop" and I do believe got the biggest round of applause after their performance!! (That could be the proud Mommy talking though again...).
The best part for me, I think, was during the morning performance (they did a morning and an evening performance) when she spotted us in the audience and just locked eyes with us and had the BIGGEST smile on her face the whole time!! Then when she came back out for the big finale at the end, she once again spotted us and had a big grin on her face and waved to us again!!

The Birthday Boy!!
Believe it or not, Mr. Dylan is now one!! It doesn't seem like it could have already happened, but it has. Of course he doesn't have a clue as to what is happening and what a birthday is, but Big Sissy knows what a birthday is!! We woke Dylan up to singing "Happy Birthday" and he got his imfamous grin on his face, but I still don't think he knew what was going on!! He knew his favorite person - Lizzie - was in the room!! We later did it again with Daddy on the speaker phone singing too.
That night was Lizzie's T-ball practice and after T-ball we had cupcakes. Dylan is a boy after his mommy's heart - he LOVES chocolate!! He did not leave a bit of that chocolate cupcake to spare!! Frosting and ALL!!

T-ball Fun
It is spring and therefore it is baseball season, or for 4-6 year olds, T-ball season!! Lizzie is part of that group!! She is just getting started in sports. She tried basketball this past winter and loved it and so this spring it is t-ball! Here are a few pictures of some of her games:

Crawling, standing, walking and Kindergarten - oh my!!
Dylan is now 11 months old and is quite the crawler!! He will be on one side of the room one minute and the next thing you know he is on the other side of the room. Or even worse, he has found his way to the stairs and is halfway up them before you realize it!! But he is slowly starting to gain confidence in his legs and will walk along things no problem and will stand up and let go of whatever he is holding onto, but when you try to coax him to walk to you or just to take a step...he will fall down and crawl to you instead!!
He is one of the most flexible kids I know. When he is really mad about something he will just flop over in half with his head between his feet and bury his face in the ground and cry about it. It's funny and cute and all, but also has the makings for some bad tantrums...which will have to be nixed!!
Then there is big sissy!! She loves her little brother!! She will dote on him when she feels like it, but he is also getting mobile enough to where he is starting to try and get into her stuff!! She doesn't always like that and is learning very quickly that she needs to share. I brought home some stuff from a co-worker that her son had grown out of and let the kids play with them. Well, Lizzie decides she wants to play with some of the stuff, but they were intended for Dylan, so she gives him one piece of the many and hordes the rest for herself. Again, comical in some ways, but not in others.
One Monday morning not too long ago was a little rough. She was teary about everything and I was getting frustrated with her. So I thought it would be a great idea to tell her that I was going to go sign her up for Kindergarten that week and she starts to cry. I asked her why she was crying and she said "Because I'm not 5 yet!" I told her that she would be ok and that I was just signing her up!! That didn't necesarily help, but she did quit crying. I just can't believe that she will be starting kindergarten in only a few months!! Time flies when you have kids!!
