Life has a funny way of teaching you lessons and mine lately seems to be PATIENCE!!!!
We all tend to be impatient sometimes, but apparently it is coming to my attention LOUD AND CLEAR!!! It is shouting: JENNY SLOW DOWN!!!!
It all started last spring when I got a ticket for going 45 in a 35. So, I got that one defered, meaning if I kept my record clean for the next 12 months, it would not go on my record...
Well, I was doing pretty good and remembering, especially in that area, to keep the speed down. Then when we were traveling to Oregon for Christmas I was on I-5 and speeding and there was no one in front of me for a ways and the cop saw me and pulled me over...got off with a warning!! Phew!!
Then on Tuesday we were traveling home from the coast and I was passing a car and sure enough a cop was coming in the other direction and caught me speeding, so he pulled me over and gave me another warning!!!
Then yesterday, I was taking Dylan to daycare and I was driving down a back road to get there and there happens to be a school zone on that road, so I made sure I slowed down to 20mph in the school zone, but I was too late!!! The officer clocked me at 48 in a 35 and gave me a ticket...
So that means a couple of things...I have to go to hopefully get this ticket reduced some and the other one I got in June, well that one will now go on my record as well... :( I don't know how this will affect my insurance, but I'm not looking forward to it at all!!
Lesson learned? Yes I have learned my lesson!! I need to just slow down. I am a procrastinator by nature, but I just need to take an extra minute or two to just slow down. Get out of bed earlier so that I am not rushing around. I had another mini lesson in patience this morning when I went out to my car and it had a dead battery. Luckily I was only 10 minutes late to work, but still, it was frustrating and I DIDN'T SPEED on my way to work either!!
So, this is my plan for now - take steps to not rush around all the time and don't put things off to the last minute. I need to teach this to myself, so that my kids can see me being an example of that.
Here's to taking time to smell the roses!!!
